Jeeva and Neelu have been living at their aunt’s home since she helped rescue them on March 31st, 2022. Finally free after years of abuse, the sisters were happy when our social workers visited them and their mother, Veena, on July 8th. Both girls want to study, and Jeeva (left) has been learning English with help from a relative.

Jeeva has diabetes and feels sick often. The government hospital nearby is unable to treat her condition, so Jeeva’s mother has been taking her to a hospital over three hours away. The cost of treatment in addition to the travel time has been a heavy burden for Veena as a single mom. One of our social workers knows a doctor near Jeeva’s aunt’s house. She took Jeeva and Veena to meet him. The doctor spent a good amount of time learning about Jeeva’s medical history. He performed some tests and reassured them that he would provide whatever treatment Jeeva required. Jeeva and Veena are thrilled to find affordable treatment only 10 minutes away from where they live!
