Anjana and Sarita (Freedom Firm social workers) visited Shema and her sister in their village in Rajasthan. Shema, who was rescued in February 2019, opened up about the pain she feels living in a community that forces young girls into prostitution. When a few women approached the police for protection, the police dismissed them. Members of the community even paid the police to ignore any pleas and protests from women. The children, teenage girls and women in these communities are struggling. We are thankful to work alongside other NGOs who strive to change this damaging community practice.
