Today, 8 survivors in a shelter home in Pune participated in a "World Day against Trafficking in Persons" life skills session. Social worker Shilpa outlined different forms of trafficking and various reasons it occurs. A Bangladeshi survivor shared, "Traffickers take advantage of the poor and needy, betray them in the name of jobs and marriage, sell body parts, enslave people, use children for begging, and mostly for selling girls and women in the sex trade."

The superintendent of the shelter home encouraged the survivors and offered practical guidelines on how to protect themselves and others from the organized crime of trafficking. Shilpa shared four important approaches necessary to combat human trafficking: Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, and Partnership. The survivors continued their discussion while enjoying some snacks.
