A Hardworking Mother

On June 16, social worker Bharti visited Rinku (referred to us in 2025). Rinku lives with her mother and has an 18-year-old son from her first marriage. She studied up to 10th grade and later completed a diploma in Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM).

Currently, Rinku provides care to patients in their homes and earns around Rs. 10,000 (~$105) per month. She hopes to enroll her son in an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) course.

During the visit, Bharti encouraged Rinku to complete 12th grade so she could access better job opportunities in the future. Rinku shared that her main focus is to support her son's education and ensure a secure future for him.

Rinku's Background

In 2025, we received a referral for Rinku, and since then, our team has consistently visited and supported her. She currently lives in Chandrapur. Shortly after completing 10th grade, she was married and later gave birth to a son. A few years later, her husband passed away, leaving her to raise her son alone. As the sole provider of her family, she struggled with the weight of responsibilities and financial difficulties.

Her parents arranged a second marriage for her, hoping it would provide stability. However, the marriage did not last long, as her husband was abusive and an alcoholic. Eventually, Rinku returned to her mother's home. During this period, she found it difficult to earn enough to run the house as well as provide for her son.

Someone convinced her that prostitution was an easy way to earn money, and she agreed to go with them. She was taken to a brothel where she was forced to attend to customers against her will.

Today, Rinku is working hard to rebuild her life. Despite the challenges she has faced, she continues to work diligently and is focused on helping her son complete his education and become independent.
