Sanjana Perseveres Despite Major Obstacles at Home

Sanjana during our visit

On June 18, social worker Priya visited Sanjana (rescued on December 7, 2020, from West Bengal). Priya shared that last month, Sanjana started working at an eco-friendly enterprise that makes biodegradable soap and skincare products. She earns Rs 6,000 (~$60) per month. Her supervisor shared that she is a fast and focused learner.

Sanjana shared that she is sometimes late for work because her parents often fight; this affects her morning routine. At times, the fights become violent—her father hits her mother and breaks things in the house. Sanjana sometimes stays back to support her mother. These circumstances occasionally affect her work attendance.

Despite the challenges she faces at home, Sanjana continues to attend work. We are proud of Sanjana for her sense of responsibility. She strives to focus on her job while carrying the burdens of her family life. Our team will continue to follow up with her to ensure she feels cared for and supported.

Freedom Firm is celebrating 20 years of rescuing and walking alongside girls like Sanjana. Will you join the fight?  Donate and/or choose a summer challenge and bring freedom to the next girl!
