15 survivors attended a hygiene session with social workers Mamta and Asha in a shelter home in Ratlam.
Mamta outlined daily habits of cleanliness and menstrual hygiene, and then she illustrated the best way to wash their hands. Survivors of sex trafficking are often forced to endure extremely dirty and unhygienic conditions prior to their rescues, and many grew up in poor conditions where families were cramped into small spaces, shared limited water, and had no access to proper toilets. This information was new to many of them. They listened attentively and asked many questions, as well as shared their hygiene habits. Asha joined the discussion and offered some additional tips and guidance. The survivors enjoyed the lesson and were eager to implement and continue the hygiene practices.
