We are delighted to report that Hema (rescued in June 2024 from Akola, Maharashtra) gave birth to a healthy baby boy a few days ago!
On October 29, social worker Bharti and a volunteer visited Hema’s husband and her in-laws at his parent’s house. Hema’s husband shared that she recently moved into her father’s house.
Over the past few months, Bharti learned that Hema and her husband were having marital affairs, which led to frequent conflict. Although her husband expressed a desire to reconcile, his continued contact with the other woman has caused Hema distress.
The team counselled Hema’s husband about the consequences of his behavior and advised him to reflect seriously, especially now that they have a son together. After discussing the matter, her husband’s family expressed willingness to welcome Hema back home.

Later, our team visited Hema at her father’s house. Her father and brother were present, but
Hema had taken her newborn son to the hospital. When she returned, our team finally met the tiny boy sleeping peacefully in her arms. They gifted Hema a baby kit and a few essentials, which brought her joy and relief.
Hema's living situation with her father is unsafe. The house lacks hygiene and adequate space, and the presence of cats, dogs, and even wild snakes poses a serious risk to her and her baby’s health. Our team advised Hema to return to her husband's home, where she and her baby would be safe. They reassured her that her husband wanted her and their son back.
Little by little, Hema listened, torn between pain and responsibility, unsure of what home meant anymore.
Bharti and the volunteer also spoke with Hema’s father and brother. However, they seemed unsupportive of Hema returning to her husband’s home.
We are hopeful that Hema and her husband can reconcile and find love in each other for their own sake and for the sake of the beautiful boy they have brought into the world together. Our team will continue to visit them and offer them care and support.
