Hanifa's Hopeful Future

In August 2021, 15-year-old Hanifa was trafficked by her boyfriend from Bangladesh to India. She was rescued in April 2022, and her medical tests revealed that Hanifa was pregnant. Hanifa was placed in a shelter home, and our team supported her through her pregnancy, birth, and healing journey.

A few days ago, our staff visited Hanifa and her 3-year-old son in the shelter home. She shared that the staff give her opportunities to regularly talk with her family in Bangladesh. Her parents are eager to see Hanifa and their grandson, and Hanifa longs to be reunited with them. Although she misses her family, Hanifa spends her time productively at the shelter home. She has picked up tailoring and cosmetology skills, which she can confidently use to earn an income. During our visit, it was a delight to also see Hanifa's son, who was full of joy and energy.

Hanifa's repatriation process to Bangladesh is currently underway. We hope she can soon be home with her family. What a joyous reunion it will be!
