Anu Dreams Big Amidst Motherhood

Social worker Bharti visited Anu (rescued from a lodge in Nagpur in August 2022) at her home in Jabalpur. A few weeks ago, Anu gave birth to a baby girl. Although Anu had a mild cold, she was excited to see Bharti and joyfully accepted her baby gifts. Anu invited Bharti to hold her baby, and Bharti enjoyed some cuddles while they caught up.

Anu shared that during a recent doctor's visit, she and her husband were a little shaken to learn that their daughter has a hearing impairment. The doctor suggested further tests to determine if surgery might improve their baby's hearing. Bharti listened sympathetically and encouraged her to prioritize their baby's treatment.

Last January, prior to getting married, Anu told us that she was eager to complete her degree and become an Indian Administrative Service officer. This would provide her with job security and a well-paying job. Although she has had to slow down on college after getting married and having a baby, Anu continues to pursue her studies. She is currently in her second year of her B.A. and is preparing for her exams in a few weeks. We are hopeful Anu's husband will support her by sharing their parental responsibilities so Anu can complete her education and help provide for their family.

During the visit, Bharti reminded Anu of her upcoming court date when she will have the opportunity to testify against her accused. We are cheering you on, Anu, as you continue to work hard amidst your role as a mother.
