Survivors engaged with a lesson on Child Rights

On August 27th 2025, 15 survivors from a shelter home in Kolkata listened to our social worker as she spoke about child rights. She explained in detail about their right to survival, their right to be safe, their right to development, and their right to participation. The goal was for survivors to understand about the importance of education, health, safety, and the right to live with dignity.

Many survivors may not even know that they have legal rights that protect them, or that how they have been exploited in the past is against the law. Survivors were encouraged to share their own thoughts and real-life experiences.

After the social worker finished the lesson, the crayons, colored pencils and sketch pens came out and survivors drew posters on Child Rights. The session ended with these young girls getting a good understanding of their rights. Now all that is left is for them to put it into practice!
