A Visit with Palomi
On October 8, social worker Anjana travelled to Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, to meet Palomi, who was rescued on June 16, 2025, from Bardhaman, West Bengal. Palomi was at her father’s home with a friend when Anjana arrived.
Palomi shared that she is now in 9th grade. When Anjana asked about her favorite subject, Palomi replied that she enjoys Mathematics, but her friends persuaded her to study Home Science, so she is studying Home Science even though she has no interest in it. Anjana explained that she could switch back to Mathematics in 10th grade. Palomi was happy to learn about this option.
Palomi shared that she has no plans to return to West Bengal, where her mother lives; she and her two siblings live in Bijnor with their father.
We hope Palomi continues to heal and focus on her education while balancing her other responsibilities at home.
