Monisha & Aarvi Rescued from a Hotel in Sangli

On August 30, 2026, our team received intel about a minor victim being exploited at a hotel in Sangli, Maharashtra. After verifying the lead, the team left for Sangli, which was about 150 miles away.
On September 1, the team headed out to meet the Sangli Superintendent of Police, SP, at 2:00 pm. They were asked to come in the evening.
At 5:39 p.m., our team visited the police station again to meet the SP. The SP was still busy with police matters, and our team was asked to return the next day.
On September 2, we arrived at the police station at 4:39 p.m. to meet the SP. Since he was busy, our team was asked to return to his office at 6:30 p.m.
The team arrived at the SP’s office at 6:30 p.m. He was still busy with police matters, so we contacted the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, AHTU in Sangli.
Our team spoke with an AHTU officer over the phone and shared the verified intel. The officer asked the team to visit the AHTU office in Sangli the following day. He would coordinate with his senior officers and secure their support for the rescue.
On September 3, we met with the AHTU officer and shared the information. Our team had hoped to meet the Police Inspector, PI, who would lead the rescue, and to request a support team, but the AHTU officer mentioned that the PI was unavailable that day. However, the AHTU officer helped to assign a support team for the raid.
At 3:45 p.m., our team submitted a letter to the PI including details about the case. The police and our team discussed rescue strategies. The necessary documents were prepared, then the AHTU team, a lady police-sub inspector, and our team proceeded to the victim’s location at 4:59 p.m.
At 5:22 p.m., the AHTU and our team raided the hotel and rescued the victim, 17-year-old Monisha, as well as a 22-year-old victim, Aarvi, from the hotel. Monisha and Aarvi were afraid when they saw the police, so our team took them to a separate room.
The police’s investigation revealed that the hotel was being used as a brothel. On the first floor, there was a waiting hall and reception area, along with a cooking area and three restrooms. The second floor had three small rooms where minors and women were forced to service customers. The rooms were extremely small and cramped, providing very little space for the girls. The beds were dirty, and the toilets extremely unhygienic, and they reeked.
The police arrested the brothel manager and one other person who was at the brothel. Both were taken into custody.
At 10:05 p.m., our social worker accompanied Monisha and Aarvi to their medical tests, then escorted them to the police, where the police completed filing the First Information Report.
At 12:38 a.m., the police team, the AHTU, and our team escorted Monisha and Aarvi to a shelter home. The survivors were placed in a protective home at 1:05 a.m.
On September 4, Monisha and Aarvi were produced at the Judicial Magistrate of the First Class Court (JMFC), where their statements were recorded.
17-year-old Monisha was moved to a protective home, and Aarvi was taken back to the same shelter home after her rescue. Both survivors are finally safe and beginning their healing journey.
