Kaveri*, rescued in January in Salem, was released back to her parents who we suspect were involved in her trafficking. In a positive turn of events, her medical test, which arrived last week, proved that she is a minor.
She was taken into custody by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) where she will stay until further investigations. Her friend Banu,* also released to her parents, was found safe by Freedom Firm’s social worker.
The four accused in this case will remain in prison for a year since charges were filed under the Goondas Act and the POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, which is non-bailable. Freedom Firm is ecstatic that the police have cooperated so well in this case.
