Kaveri*, rescued in January in Salem, was released back to her parents who we suspect were involved in her trafficking. In a positive turn of events, her medical test, that arrived last week, proved that she is a minor.
She was taken into custody by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) where she will stay until further investigations. Her friend Banu*, also released to her parents, was found safe by Freedom Firm’s social worker.
The four accused in this case will remain in prison for a year since charges were filed under the Goondas Act and the POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, which is non bailable. Freedom Firm is ecstatic that the police have cooperated so well in this case.
