Fatima's Repatriation Order & Farewell

Fatima excitedly journeyed to India, believing she had secured a job in a hospital that would provide for her son and her ill mother in Bangladesh. Instead, she was subjected to horrific abuse—r*ped, beaten, and sold to a brothel. She was forced to work in Mumbai's red-light area.

When we heard about her situation, our team contacted the Navi, Mumbai AHTU (anti-human trafficking unit) who rescued her on August 27, 2024. We met Fatima at the police station and she shared her story with us. We supported her through her medical tests and then she was placed in a shelter home. Our legal team worked hard for the past two years to ensure that she could be safely repatriated to her family.

On March 25, 2026, after​ 19 months of waiting, the government finally passed Fatima's repatriation order and so she could return to her home in Bangladesh.

Our social worker visited her to say goodbye. Soon, Fatima will be reunited with her son, her family, and her people.
