8-year-old Rashida Rescued in Varanasi

On April 18, the police and our team rescued 8-year-old Rashida from a house in Varanasi. Like her 14-year-old sister, Esmi (whom we rescued last week), Rashida experienced sexual assault by multiple men, including her mother's boyfriend. Rashida shared that she does not ever wish to return to her mother.

Our social workers accompanied Rashida to her medical examinations and then to a children's shelter home, where she enjoyed taking a bath, eating breakfast, playing with other children, and watching TV. She was overjoyed to reunite with her sister, Esmi.

Both girls are now safe and beginning their journey toward healing. Our team will continue to fight for their justice and safety.
