On March 3, 2026, we received intelligence from our partner organization in Bangladesh about a minor who was trafficked to West Bengal, India. After receiving all the necessary details about the victim, our team began searching for her.

On March 13, our team identified the victim’s location, but the house was locked, and neither the victim nor the trafficker was present. The house was located in a small town near Kolkata, where not many people lived. The team continued searching for the victim and trafficker.

On March 24, we received intel that the victim and trafficker were back at the house.

On March 25, our team met with officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and shared our information on the victim. The officers directed us to the police station in Barasat. After reviewing our information, the police in Barasat directed us to the Habra Police Station. We shared our information with the Habra Police, and they directed us to the Gobardanga Police Station. Our team then shared our information with the Officer in Charge at the Gobardange Police Station. After reviewing the information, the Officer in Charge agreed to initiate the raid.

The police and our team reached the victim’s location at 9:55 p.m.

On March 25, at 10:10 p.m., the police and our team raided the house and rescued the victim, 15-year-old Rachita. We accompanied Rachita to the police station, and the police took the accused to the police station. Later that night, after the police had collected the necessary information, the police filed the First Information Report (FIR).

We accompanied Rachita to a local government hospital for her medical tests, then to a protective home in Kolkata.

The accused is currently in police custody. From the time he was arrested, he has applied for bail thrice in the Barasat Lower Court. His bail application was rejected all three times.

Rachita is safe in the protective home. The police are continuing to investigate this case.
