14-year-old Ansu's Rescue from Ratlam

On April 21, 2026, our team received intel regarding a minor being exploited in a red light area in Moyakheda village in Ratlam, MP. We left immediately to verify the lead. There was a small room in the brothel with an attached kitchen and a dirty, stinky restroom.

After verifying the information, our team met the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP),  to share our evidence. The ASP initially suggested a mass rescue operation. We expressed concern that such a large-scale approach might allow the exploiters to flee and the victim to escape. We requested an alternative plan to which the ASP agreed. He asked for further details and promised to appoint a team to lead the rescue operation.

The next day, we spoke to the ASP, who directed us to meet an officer of the Rakshak Dal Department (a voluntary auxiliary security force established in 1948 to maintain rural peace, assist in security, and foster discipline). The officer examined the evidence and put together a specialized team to lead the rescue operation. Once we received the necessary permissions, the police and our team headed to Moyakheda village to raid the brothel.

While arriving at the location, word quickly spread through the village that the police had arrived, alerting the brothel. The customers and victims inside the brothel escaped. The police pursued the customers but were unable to detain them. The police found four victims hiding in a field behind the brothel and rescued them, including 14-year-old Ansu, whom we had tracked.

When the police returned to the brothel to arrest the brothel keeper, she had fled. We later discovered that the brothel keeper was Ansu’s aunt.

After the police completed collecting evidence from the brothel, all four victims were escorted to the police station. The three major victims were released. The police interviewed Ansu. She told them about her aunt. The police filed a First Information Report, then we accompanied Ansu to her medical tests.

On April 23, the police escorted Ansu to court, where she shared her statement. Ansu explained that she was sent to her aunt’s home under the pretext of marriage. After a few weeks,  her aunt forced her into prostitution.

Ansu was placed in a shelter home for her safety, where she remains safe.
