Celebrating without Complacency

Brothel owner Anil Biswas was convicted for 1 year, 7 months, and 16 days for sexually exploiting Riya. Riya was trafficked from Bangladesh and rescued from Anil's brothel on September 18th, 2020. You can read her rescue story HERE.

Although we celebrate every conviction, our lawyer will file an appeal in the High Court to increase the sentence and fine. Anil's current fine is only 2,000 Rupees, roughly $25 USD.

This small fine and less than 2 years in prison is much too small a penalty for the sexual abuse Riya endured.
