Usually, Freedom Firm staff go to the police with information and ask them to do a raid. On Sunday evening (October 9), the police requested assistance from us to conduct a raid in Ganga Jamuna, the red-light area in Nagpur, to rescue two minor girls.
The Freedom Firm team responded immediately and, two girls were rescued, and two brothel keepers arrested.
The girls are now in a government shelter home as we await the result of an age verification test. Meanwhile, Freedom Firm’s social workers will conduct a home investigation to determine if it is safe for them to return home.
It is encouraging when the police call Freedom Firm for help to rescue girls. This indicates a dramatic shift in the approach the police are taking to fight sex-trafficking in Nagpur.
