Last week Freedom Firm investigators found a 15-year-old in prostitution in Amalner, a town where previously no investigations have been conducted. Amalner is 400kms from Pune and is located in Jalgaon District in Northern Maharashtra.
The team along with local police initiated the raid on 13th January. Three girls (one minor and two borderline) were rescued that day. In their statement at the police station, the girls mentioned that they were from the Bedia community in Bundi, Rajasthan, an area known for selling daughters into prostitution. The girls’ brothel keeper was also arrested that day.
They have been placed at a protective home in the same district where they will be regularly followed up by our aftercare team.
