While investigating brothels in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh a month ago, Freedom Firm’s investigators found one minor girl in prostitution. A rescue could not be done as the police did not have sufficient force available.
Unlike traditional brothels which are located in specified red-light districts in the town/city, the brothels in Chitrakoot are located in a residential area.
The team returned last week to find four minor girls in the same area. They immediately approached the police for assistance and this time three of the minor girls were rescued. Two of them were trafficked from Rajasthan and one from within Chitrakoot. A brothel keeper and two customers were arrested.
A strong First Information Report (complaint) was filed and the accused sent to jail. The three girls were also placed in the local jail and we are working to transfer them to a shelter home.
