High Court News

The Public Interest Litigation filed by Freedom Firm to address the problem of traffickers absconding before their case comes to trial. Last week Freedom Firm staff presented case details before the Bombay High Court judge. The judge learned new information about the case since it was first presented two years ago. In a previous hearing, the Commissioner of Police, Pune, submitted documents simply stating that the accused were not traceable.

In an effort to convince the police to take this matter more seriously, Freedom Firm has requested the Judge to order the Commissioner of Police to give a thorough explanation of why the absconders were not traceable, what steps they took and what further steps will be taken to trace the accused.

Freedom Firm staff will again present their arguments before the judge in four weeks' time.
