On January 25th, Pavitra celebrated her 17th birthday by participating in sports day at the shelter home in Kolkata. She placed third in the three legged race! Pavitra has been living in this shelter home since her rescue on October 25th, 2021. The shelter home staff share that Pavitra is cheerful, friendly and extremely confident. She inspired other survivors through the speech she gave about Girl Power for India’s National Girl Child Day on January 24th.
A bright and dedicated student, Pavitra is now in 11th grade. You can read more about Pavitra’s past HERE. Exciting opportunities lie ahead – Pavitra was chosen to attend Free a Girl Foundation’s School of Justice program! She will study law, become a lawyer and help girls who are being exploited. The School of Justice will also cover the cost of food and housing until she completes her studies.
