Our team received a summons from the Rajasthan Sessions Court to testify about Lata's rescue (16-year-old Lata was re-rescued in Rajasthan in August 2023).
On February 17th, our team testified before a judge at the Sessions Court, outlining Lata's first rescue in Nagpur in March 2023, her parents' role in trafficking her, and her need to stay in the shelter home for her safety. The defense lawyer attempted to unnerve the team, but they stood their ground and answered the plethora of questions.
Our advocate stated that Lata shared her testimony a few weeks earlier at a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) court, in which she boldly recounted the crimes she endured through being trafficked and exploited. (𝑾𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝑳𝒂𝒕𝒂!)
The judge expects to hear a few more testimonies before passing a verdict. We hope the brothel keeper and others involved in trafficking Lata will be justly convicted.
